Assisting Students with Disabilities

CPC professionals work directly with students with a variety of disabilities to get them ready as they prepare to enter the workforce, this requires a comprehensive trans-disciplinary vocational assessment and a special focus on post-school planning. Compared to their nondisabled peers, students with disabilities are more likely to experience unemployment or underemployment, lower pay, and job dissatisfaction
(Dunn, 1996). Many students with disabilities, as well as those with chronic achievement problems, often drop out of high school before graduating, leaving them even more unprepared for, and less likely to obtain, a job.
